Trochanter Values for Starting Blocks
by Cedric Walker

This paper lists, in chart format, where the starting block pedals should be placed based on the Trochanter length of the athlete. The Greater Trochanter is the powerful protrusion located at the proximal near and lateral outside part of the shaft of the femur. This measurement of leg length is taken standing, without shoes, and is the distance from the floor to the Greater Trochanter. Once this measurement is known, the chart is used to determine block placement. The measurements are presented in inches in one chart and in centimeters in a second chart. The paper was originally published on DrTrack.com in December 2001. It was transferred to and republished by Glass Dragon Digital Publishing in February 2007.
