The Greater Trochanter is the powerful protrusion located at the proximal (near) and lateral (outside) part of the shaft of the femur. This measurement of leg length is taken standing, without shoes, and is the distance from the floor to the Greater Trochanter. Once this measurement is known, the chart is used to determine block placement. The measurements are presented in inches in one chart and in centimeters in a second chart.
